Observation Narrative
GPS data could not be obtained from this site. The plot represents low herbaceous vegetation of a drawn-down silty bar near the shore of the Potomac River. Although this type of habitat and vegetation is usually located directly on the river shore, this site is a small "inlet" that is slightly separated from the shore by a higher sandy bar. Low annuals, particularly Lindernia dubia var. dubia and Ludwigia palustris, greatly predominate, forming mats on the exposed silt. The few perennials present (e.g., Eupatorium serotinum) are all severely stunted. Cover from a partly overhanging silver maple was not recorded.
